Tohoku Kizuna Festival Ten Years of History 〈2012 – 2021〉

The Tohoku Rokkon Festival, which was first held in 2011 in memory of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the recovery efforts carried out ever since, featured a gathering of six festivals. Over 6 years, the festival made its way around all 6 cities, but in the hopes of further recovery, and in support of the future of Tohoku, it was once again reborn for another round, as the Tohoku Kizuna Festival.

However with the spread of Covid-19 in 2020, the Yamagata event was postponed, and all six Tohoku summer festivals that comprise the Tohoku Kizuna Festival were cancelled.

Now is the time to stand up again, take a new step forward, and represent the hope of every festival throughout Japan as we look back on the decade leading up to the Yamagata 2021 Tohoku Kizuna Festival.
