Today we will be traveling somewhere to report, mainly focusing on the six prefectures of Tohoku. I love traveling both domestically and internationally, even in my private life.

Akita City/Stimulating artistic sensibilities at the renovated Akita City Senshu Art Museum
2025/02/18

The exhibition environment has been further enhanced. A museum shop has also been opened!
In June of last year, the Akita City Senshu Art Museum, located in the center of Akita City, reopened after approximately two years of extensive renovation work. The museum has a collection of works by artists associated with Akita Prefecture, such as Japanese painter Hirafuku Hoan Momoho and photographer Kimura Ihei, as well as ''Akita Ranga'', Western-style paintings created in the late Edo period by Akita clan retainers such as Naotake Odano and Akebono Satake. We also have a permanent display of works by Kenzo Okada, a Western-style painter who is highly acclaimed internationally.
The exhibition room has undergone major changes in this renovation. It is now possible to create a flexible space that suits the artwork, and the exhibition cases and lighting have been updated, making it possible to appreciate the artwork more clearly. A new Akita Ranga exhibition corner has also been set up, where valuable masterpieces will appear on a monthly basis.
In addition, a museum shop that sells original goods has opened in the first floor lobby of the Akita Life Culture Center and Art Museum (Atrion), which houses the art museum. On the same floor, there was also a rest area and an information holder. There is also a nursing room, and it has been reborn as an art museum where anyone can casually experience art.
