2025/02/04
A grand event to celebrate the memorable 60th anniversary
Yamagata Zao is the symbol of Yamagata Prefecture and delights visitors with its seasonal scenery. It is also known as a famous spot for frost-covered trees, and during the season from late December to late February, tourists from all over the world come to see the ice art created by nature.
We would like to introduce a major winter event that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike at this famous frost-covered spot. The venue will be Zao Onsen Ski Resort, which boasts one of the largest total ski areas in Tohoku. When it comes to snow activities at Mt. Zao, skiing and snowboarding are the standard activities. There are also unique ski resorts, and among them, is a popular spot that attracts skiers and snowboarders. In particular, sliding while feeling the power of frost-covered trees up close is an experience unique to Zao. The night skiing on the fantastically illuminated ski slopes is also different from the daytime experience.
The most exciting time on the slopes throughout the year is the Zao Juhyo Festival, which is held from late December to late February of the following year. 2025 will be the memorable 60th time. Let's take a look at the details first.
