Sendai City/Akiu City is filled with light and art at “Akiurmina”

''Hikari no Mori'', a tour of light installations that decorate the night sky

About 30 minutes by car from central Sendai city. Akiu Onsen and its surrounding area, known as ''Sendai's inner parlor'', is dotted with attractive spots such as scenic spots rich in nature, artists' workshops, cafes, wineries, and breweries. ''Akiurmina'' is an event held every autumn in the Akiu area, which is home to many famous spots for viewing autumn leaves, such as Rairaikyo Gorge and Akiu Otaki.

This event, which shines "LUMINA" on the people, things, and events of Akiu, and enjoys traveling around the area, will be held in two parts: "Light Forest 2024" with the theme of light, and "AKIULUMINART 2024" with the theme of art, allowing you to experience the charms of Akiu that are different from usual and that you may not know yet.

Hikari no Mori 2024, which will be held from October 25th (Friday) to November 24th (Sunday), will focus on three events: ''Rairikyo Momiji no Komichi Illumination'' held in Rairikyo Gorge, which is lined with strangely shaped giant rocks, ''Akiu Night Museum'' which lights up the Japanese garden in the castle tower natural park, and ''Night Art Museum'' at Akiu no Mori Sasaki Art Museum & Doll Museum. Other activities include illumination of vehicles at the site of the former Akiu Electric Railway Akiu Onsen Station, projection mapping of the exterior of the Sendai Kaleidoscope Museum, and even illumination of maple trees at private residences, and the entire town of Akiu will be colored with a fantastic light installation.

Please note that the period, time, admission fees, etc. vary depending on the venue, so please check beforehand.
