Viewing the original scenery of Japan from Heso Park, the center of Akita Prefecture
Near Soyakyo, there is Heso Park, named for its location in the geographical center of Akita Prefecture. On top of the hill, there is a center marker indicating that it is the center of the prefecture, a nameplate inscribed with "Longitude 140° 21'34'' East, Latitude 39° 41'52'' North," as well as an object shaped like a "belly button sesame".
From the top of the hill, you can get a panoramic view of the Uyanai district, which is surrounded by mountains on all sides. The landscape where old-fashioned weirs and thatched houses remain is truly an original Japanese landscape. If you visit during the fall foliage season, you will feel an indescribable sense of nostalgia as you look at the quiet landscape of the village forest after the rice harvest has finished.
In addition, the park has play equipment such as swings, a barbecue house (cooking building), a campsite, a radio-controlled course, etc., so the whole family can enjoy it. Since there are no buildings around and there is little artificial light, it is also known as a spot where you can see the starry sky beautifully, so it is also recommended when you want to enjoy the starry sky in autumn.
