A lotus in full bloom creates a fantastic scenery. A leisurely stroll along the moat promenade

Inside the park, you can enjoy the seasonal scenery created by nature, including the approximately 650 cherry trees that have been selected as one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom spots, and the beautiful fall foliage that harmonizes with historical sites, providing a soothing experience for many people, including the citizens of Akita. Lotuses, which are known for their elegant beauty, are in full bloom during the Kanto Festival. Every year from late July to early September, pale pink flowers bloom all over the moat of Otemon Gate, attracting many tourists with their fantastic sight. The Thousand Autumn Lotus Festival is held during the peak viewing season, and the moat is lit up at night. There are also gourmet events.

In July of this year, the floating promenade built in the moat was completed, and now you can admire the lotus flowers as if you were walking on water. This promenade connects the front of Akita Arts Theater Milhas to the pocket park on the Akita Station side, and the winding part is a viewing space where you can stop and take photos.
