A mountain of faith where history and mysterious legends remain

Mt. Shinobu is so historic that it even appeared in "The Tales of Ise," written in the Heian period, and is a sacred mountain that includes Mt. Kumano's Kinkasan Yohaisho, Mt. Haguro Shrine, Mt. Haguro's Gassan Shrine, and Mt. Yudono Shrine. There are gods and Buddhas that are worshiped in the mountains, and from the Kamakura period to the Muromachi period, many mountain priests visited here for training. The ''Course Route,'' which is now a walking course, is the approach route used to visit these temples and shrines. In addition, the large strange stones and megaliths are called ''48 stones'', such as ''Zazen Rock'' where Kobo Daishi once meditated and attained enlightenment, and each one has its own legend.

Furthermore, Iwatani Kannon, a group of stone cliff Buddhas with about 60 statues, including 33 Kannon statues and Jizo statues, carved into the rock face halfway up the mountain is also a scenic spot with a majestic atmosphere. It was created in the middle of the Edo period, and is attractive not only for its historical value but also for its simple beauty.

Mt. Shinobu, a popular power spot, is easily accessible and allows you to enjoy trekking and hiking. Why not take a walk along the promenade, feeling the long history and mysterious power, and be healed by the spectacular scenery?
