Feel the changing seasons at the store. The Sendai Tanabata Festival, a summer tradition, is also held at the morning market.

Miyagi is blessed with seasonal mountains, rivers, and seafood. The Sendai Morning Market, where seasonal specialties arrive from all over the prefecture, is a great place not only for shopping, but also for learning about the rich food of Sendai and Miyagi. For example, in spring, Sendai strawberries grown in Watari and Yamamoto, and coho salmon farmed in Minamisanriku and Onagawa. In the summer, we have sea squirts caught in Sanriku, long eggplants, Sendai's traditional vegetables, Kinka mackerel caught off the coast of Mt. Kinka in the fall, and oysters from Matsushima in the winter. Nameta flounder and grilled goby, which are purchased by citizens at the end of the year, are indispensable ingredients for Sendai's New Year holidays.

Sendai Morning Market also holds various events throughout the year, and during the Sendai Tanabata Festival from August 6th to 8th every year, elaborate Tanabata decorations appear on the streets. The Tanabata Festival in the morning market, which is different from the arcade street, has a unique handmade feel. We also recommend enjoying the colorful decorations while looking at the seasonal ingredients lined up in the store.
