Unique specialty stores crammed along the street. The best part of the market is interacting with the people in the shops.

In the area in front of Sendai Station, which is lined with shopping and office buildings and where many people come and go, there is a place that retains an old-fashioned atmosphere and is close to the lives of citizens. "Sendai Morning Market" is affectionately known as the "Kitchen of Sendai." As you walk down the alley, which stretches from east to west for about 100 meters, you will find many shops not only along the street but also behind the buildings. There are approximately 60 stores in a variety of genres, including a fruit and vegetable store selling seasonal vegetables and fruits, a fish store selling extremely fresh seafood, a butcher store, a delicatessen store, and a restaurant.

Sendai Morning Market was born in 1945, the year the war ended. It all started with the so-called ''Aozora Market,'' which was held in front of Sendai Station, which was devastated by an air raid. There were many stalls and many people came to buy supplies. The market, which was an open-air market until the mid-1960s, has improved over time and is now a tourist attraction that is visited not only by local residents but also by people from all over Japan and overseas. The liveliness of the market and the warm interaction that can only be achieved through face-to-face sales remain the same as in the past, and this place has been supporting the meals of Sendai residents for about 80 years.
