Pilgrimage to a sacred place at Bunshokan, which was chosen as a filming location for a movie
Bunshokan, a museum of Yamagata prefecture that has restored the Yamagata prefectural government building and prefectural assembly building built in 1916 (Taisho 5) to their original appearance, is worth a visit even if you are not an architecture or history buff. It is also known as the filming location for the 2014 movie ''Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc/The Legend's End'', with filming taking place in the main office, the former governor's office, and the courtyard. The shooting scenes are displayed on panels inside the museum, so be sure to check them out. Also, the exterior appears in the movie ''Kakegurui Russian Roulette'', which will be released in 2021, so please take it on a pilgrimage to the sacred place.
During the Hanagasa Festival, the ''Yamagata Hanagasa Food Festival in Bunshokan'' will be held at the square in front of the Bunshokan building. There will be many food stalls where you can enjoy Yamagata's delicious food such as imoni and tama konnyaku, so we recommend filling your stomach here before heading to the parade venue.
