"Sendai Tanabata Fireworks Festival" lights up the summer night sky in Sendai
The Sendai Tanabata Fireworks Festival is held on August 5th every year as the eve of the Sendai Tanabata Festival. This is a rare fireworks festival in Japan where fireworks are set off around Nishi Park and you can enjoy fireworks viewing right in the heart of the city.
The 55th event will be held in 2024, with the theme of "smile" and approximately 16,000 fireworks will light up the night sky of Sendai. The continuous launch of up to size 4 balls and the extra large star mine are quite impressive.
On the day of the event, free viewing areas will be open, mainly in Nishi Park, and paid viewing seats will be set up in various locations, including Aobayama Exchange Plaza, so you can enjoy the fireworks in a relaxed manner.
If you are planning to visit the Tanabata Festival overnight, please stay in Sendai from August 5th and enjoy both the Tanabata fireworks and the Tanabata Festival.
