Sendai City/“Sendai Tanabata Night Festival – Evening Lights” takes in the hustle and bustle of the festival
2024/06/03
The “Night Tanabata Festival” was a huge success in 2023.
"Sendai Tanabata Festival" is held from August 6th to 8th every year. At night during the festival, the `''Sendai Tanabata Night Festival - Yoi Akari'' will be held at Aobayama, a place associated with Date Masamune.
Details for this year will be decided from time to time, but let's take a look back at last year's events and think about this year's program.
On Tojoji, fantastic images will be shown with light-up and projection mapping, with the theme of Tanabata and date culture. At the Sendai Castle ruins, the equestrian statue of Date Masamune, which had just returned from repair, was specially illuminated to the delight of many people.
At the Sendai Ryokusaikan, an attraction-type demonstration show titled ''Date Romanesque'' will be performed. Produced by the performance group Shiro A, it depicts the life of Date Masamune, who survived the Sengoku period, through a spectacle of sound and light. After the stage performance, a guided tour will be held along the Date Light Route, with the performers introducing episodes related to Sendai and Date Masamune. It was a moment where we could deeply feel the thoughts of Lord Masamune amidst the fantastic scenery.
