Aomori City/Wearing Haneto costumes at the Aomori Nebuta Festival

Add lots of bells to your costume and jump around!

Now, let's explain about the Haneto costume. There are 10 items needed: ''Hanagasa'', ''Yukata'', ''Tasuki'', ''Okoshi'', ''Shigoki'', ''string (magic belt)'', ''Bean squeezer'', ''Tabi'', ''Sandals'', and ''Bell''.

First, put on your tabi socks, wrap your socks, and put on your white yukata. After adjusting the yukata and securing it with a string, wrap the shigoki around your waist, roll up the sleeves and put on a bright tasuki. Finally, put on the flower hat with the bean squeezer on it to complete the look.

The key is to attach as many bells as possible to your costume so that they make a clanging sound when you jump. This bell is called the ''lucky bell,'' and it is said that if you pick up a bell that falls off your costume while you are bouncing, and that remains without being stepped on, it will bring you good luck.

As you jump up and down to the music, a warmth will gradually rise up from within your body, and you will feel a sense of unity with your surroundings. After finishing the festival, you should feel refreshed and comfortable. Why not join the festival as a Haneto this summer?
