Akita City/Cosmos Road, autumn leaves light up… A relaxing walking spot to feel the autumn atmosphere

Recommended for the autumn tourist season. "Akita Prefectural Koizumigata Park"

Akita Prefectural Koizumigata Park, located approximately 10 minutes by car from Showa Oga Peninsula I.C. on the Akita Expressway and 20 minutes on foot from Oiwake Station on the Ou Main Line and Oga Line, is a place of relaxation for Akita citizens. It is a park that has been maintained to take advantage of nature, centering on the expansive wetlands of Otokogata and Onnagata. The vast grounds include recreational facilities such as tennis courts, field athletics, and large playground equipment, as well as a multipurpose plaza, outdoor stage, and barbecue area. Furthermore, Suishinen, Akita Prefecture's first full-fledged forest and spring strolling style Japanese garden, is decorated with spectacular autumn leaves in the fall, and is illuminated from mid-October to early November (October 14th, 20th-21st, 27th-28th, and November 2nd in 2023). There is a rest area, an arbor, a waterfall pavilion, etc., and the design is also appealing, allowing you to take a leisurely stroll while admiring the seasonal gardens.

Otokogata and Ongata, which extend north and south, are wetland plant communities designated as natural monuments by the prefecture. It is also known as a destination for migratory birds, and is home to a rich natural environment.

At the park, we are making efforts to make the park more comfortable for a variety of users, such as making some of the sidewalks barrier-free for strollers and wheelchairs, and constructing new restrooms that can accommodate diaper changing and masturbation users.

You can admire the seasonal scenery or exercise on the spacious grounds. Please enjoy autumn to your heart's content.
