Aomori City/Enjoy autumn with original seafood bowls made at the market and cosmos fields

The original “Aomori Nokkedon” where you can enjoy your favorite toppings on top

Autumn is full of appetite! If you want to enjoy autumn to the fullest in Aomori City, why not try the original "Aomori Nokke-don" at the Aomori Gyosai Center, located about a 5-minute walk from JR Aomori Station?

Aomori Fish and Vegetable Center is a market that is affectionately known locally as "Furukawa Market." There is an array of local specialties, including scallops caught in Mutsu Bay, fresh seafood caught that morning, side dishes such as Aomori's specialty "squid minced meat," and many tourists come to enjoy the Nokkedon, which you can choose as many toppings as you like and eat on top of rice.

To make Nokkedon, first purchase a meal ticket at the information desk inside the market. A set of 12 tickets costs 2,000 yen, and a single ticket costs 170 yen. Next, I went to a rice shop and bought a bowl of rice. One meal ticket is required for a regular size meal, and two meal tickets are used for a large size meal. Once you have your rice, you can freely walk around the market, choose your favorite toppings at any of the 30 shops, and exchange them for a meal ticket. For example, the required number of ingredients is specified, such as 1 meal ticket for lean tuna, 3 meal tickets for fatty tuna. In addition to sashimi, they also have miso soup, pickles, and side dishes, and you can have the meat grilled at the butcher shop, so it's also a good idea to make it into a yakiniku bowl.

You are free to decide what kind of rice bowl you want. Even if you have extra meal tickets, you cannot exchange them for cash, so be sure to use them up. If you don't have enough meal tickets, you can purchase just one.

Once the nokkedon is completed, you can eat it at a rest area inside the market. Chopsticks, soy sauce, and wasabi are provided at the rest area. We also have draft beer (500 yen in cash), so you can enjoy a quick drink with some sashimi. The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., but it closes as soon as the food runs out, so we recommend arriving early.
