Akita City/Feel cool at Fushin Falls and enjoy the sunset from Selion

Enjoy forest bathing and negative ion bathing at the hidden scenic spot “Fushino Falls”

Soyakyo, a famous spot for autumn leaves, is located in the upper reaches of the Iwami River in Kawabe, Akita City. Further upstream from there is Funoshinotaki, a hidden scenic spot. The waterfall is so clear that you can see the bottom, and although it is not very high at 6m, the white spray and the emerald green basin create a fantastic sight.

The surrounding area is rich in nature throughout the four seasons: fresh greenery in spring, deep greenery in summer, autumn leaves in autumn, and snowy landscapes in winter. All seasons are beautiful, but we recommend summer, where you can experience forest bathing and negative ion bathing at the same time while enjoying the cool air.

To reach Fushishin Falls, we recommend using the parking lot in front of the Tonobuchi Enchi public restroom downstream. After walking for about 5 minutes from the parking lot, you will see a signboard for the entrance to Fushin Falls. Approximately 200 meters downstream from Fushinobu Falls, about a 2-minute walk from the parking lot, there is Tonobuchi, which is said to be named after a feudal lord who fell off his horse during a sightseeing tour, and you can see the clear stream from the top of the bridge. There is a walking path from Tonobuchi to Fushinobu Falls, so it would be a good idea to stop by Tonobuchi first and then head to Fushinobu Falls.

Approximately 650m upstream from Fushinobu Falls is the ''Funasaku'' area, which is said to derive its name from the boat-shaped rock carved by the water flow. On the way to Funasaku, there is a water fountain called ''Seseragi no Sato Shimizu'', so be sure to quench your thirst with cold spring water.
