Fukushima City: Stroll through the three station streets and experience local life
Bunka Street

There are also many new stores that are popular with young people. Two lively shopping streets

If you go further east from Paseo Avenue, you will enter Bunka Dori, a cobblestone shopping street. It is a pilgrimage route that continues to the west approach to Fukushima Inari Shrine, and is lined with stalls during the annual autumn festival. This area was once called ''Ishiyakoji'' because there were many temples. The approximately 250m stretch is lined with traditional specialty stores and miscellaneous goods stores popular among young people. There are many restaurants, including Yellow Beer Works, a brewery brewed by rice farmers using Fukushima hops, and the area is crowded with people even at night.

The road that runs north and south from in front of the Fukushima Prefectural Office to the entrance of Shinoyama Park is commonly known as ''Prefectural Office Street.'' Since the main gate of Fukushima Castle was there during the Edo period, it was affectionately known as "Daimon Dori" in the past. Shortly after the war, it developed into a shopping district with many shops. In 2021, the "Kencho-dori Shopping Street" with its arcade was renovated and changed its name to "Kencho-dori Craft Mall." There are many popular shops such as Ojima Bakery, a bakery that has been loved by citizens for over 80 years since its establishment, and Eklor, a patisserie that sells sweets made with Fukushima ingredients.

When visiting Fukushima City, why not enjoy meeting new people and things while walking through the unique shopping streets?
