The main building of Josatei, which is connected to the Satake family, and the greenery of the Japanese garden
Why not go looking for greenery in an authentic Japanese garden while feeling the early summer breeze? This time we would like to introduce you to the garden of Jositei, the villa of the Satake family, the former feudal lords of Akita. Yoshikazu Satake, the 9th lord of the domain, who was famous as a great ruler, named it ''Jositei'' and selected 15 views of the park as highlights. It is said that it was used as a resting place for the feudal lord when he went falconry, and as a place for writers, artists, and artists to socialize.
Now, let's turn our attention to the garden. The focal point of this garden, which follows the Enshu style of flow, is a huge Koya stone stone. Also, the snow lanterns placed inside the pond give off a taste that has been passed down for about 250 years. The symbol tree is a zelkova that is about 550 years old and is a huge tree with a trunk circumference of 6.2 meters. There is an artificial mountain in the northeast corner of the garden, and the stream flowing through the valley seems to be a direct copy of the natural landscape. Its splendor was so great that Yasuhira Nagaoka, who is said to be the father of modern landscaping, praised it highly, calling it ''a garden like no other in Tohoku.''
