Mt. Shinobu, the symbol of Fukushima City rising in the center of the city
The next thing we would like to introduce is Mt. Shinobu, the symbol of Fukushima City, which stands tall and adorable in the center of the city. Strictly speaking, it is a hill consisting of three mountains: Mt. Kumano, Mt. Haguro, and Mt. Dewa, and has been considered an object of worship since ancient times as "Oyama." In spring, the entire mountain is covered with approximately 2,000 cherry blossom trees, making it a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, but it is also a popular trekking course among locals. We especially recommend taking a walk during the fresh green season, as you can enjoy the exhilarating feeling of moving your body in the crisp air.
The most spectacular view point located on the west side of Mt. Shinobu is Karasugasaki. It is about 2km from the starting point of the trek, Fountain Square, and about 5 minutes walk from the nearest Gassan Parking Lot. There, you can enjoy a vast panoramic view of the Fukushima city area below, and on clear days, Mt. Adatara and Mt. Azuma in the distance. Enjoy the 360-degree view of Fukushima as it transitions from spring to summer.
