Fukushima City/Exhilarating trekking experience while feeling the vitality of plants

Early summer on the highlands arrives a little later than on the plains.

The season around Jododaira, which is approximately 1,600m above sea level, arrives a little later than in the flatlands. From late May to June, why not go to the vicinity of Joudodaira Wetland to enjoy the view of fresh greenery? Alpine plants such as cotton grass are preparing to bloom in the area, and the area is filled with vitality that is about to reach its peak. Since you can drive nearby, you can easily enjoy the majesty of nature.

The wooden walkway starts right near the Jododaira Visitor Center. There are also explanatory signboards, so you can check out each plant as you trek. The boardwalk is about 1km long and takes about 20 minutes to go around. If you feel like walking further, be sure to take a trip to Azuma Kofuji. From the Jododaira parking lot, cross the Bandai Azuma Skyline and climb the wooden stairs for about 10 minutes to reach the large crater. If you go further to the left, you will come to a spot with an exceptionally scenic view. You can see a panoramic view of Fukushima city, and if you're lucky, you might even see a majestic sea of clouds. It takes about 60 minutes to go around the crater of Azuma Kofuji. Enjoy the refreshing feeling of sweating in the early summer air.
