Fukushima City/Spring has arrived! “Fukushima Flower Corridor” trip to visit famous flower spots

Volunteers' desire to ''fill local mountains with flowers'' has come to fruition

The third cherry blossom spot is Omori Shiroyama Park. Omori Castle is known as the residence of Sanemoto Date, the third son of Date Tanemune, and later served as the castle's lord by Sanemoto's eldest sons, Date Tatsumi and Katakura Kagetsuna. It is also called Wagyu Castle because the entire castle resembles a sleeping cow. The castle ruins are now maintained as a park, and in the spring, 700 cherry blossom trees, including Yoshino cherry trees, are in full bloom, making it a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing. There is also a tulip field at your feet, which will be in full bloom at the same time as the cherry blossoms, so you can enjoy the collaboration of ''cherry blossoms and tulips.''

Finally, I would like to introduce a famous spot for Hanamomo, not cherry blossoms. At Iizaka Onsen Hanamomonosato, approximately 300 Hanamomo trees of 40 varieties collected from all over the world are planted on an 80-acre site. When the season arrives, the Hanamomo trees, which come in a variety of shapes and colors, burst into full bloom with a plethora of petals, giving the area a literal ''Peachy Country'' feel.

In addition, the Fukushima Flower Corridor is full of other famous cherry blossom viewing spots in the city, such as ''Takakurayama,'' ''Jitokuji Sowing Cherry Blossoms,'' ''Hosui Cherry Blossoms,'' ''Weeping Cherry Blossoms from Mt. Uwadai,'' and ''Arakawa Zakura Zutsumi Park.''

Let's enjoy cherry blossom viewing this spring with the Hanakairo guide in hand.
