Aomori City/Gorgeous cherry blossoms that harmonize with gardens and lakes

Spring when cherry blossoms fill the park facing Aomori Bay

When it comes to Aomori Prefecture's representative cherry blossom spot, Hirosaki Park is well known nationwide, but did you know that Aomori City is also home to equally spectacular cherry blossom viewing spots? The first place we will introduce is Gappo Park, located on the east side of the city.

Aipura Park is a vast park with a site area of 17 hectares. At the center of the park is a large pond and a garden that includes the Miyo no Matsu, a designated natural monument of Aomori City, and has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 city parks for its beauty. In addition, the north side of the site faces Mutsu Bay, offering a refreshing view of the beach, which has a different atmosphere than the park itself.

In spring, cherry blossoms bloom in full bloom, covering the vast grounds, and there are over 600 of them. In addition to Someiyoshino cherry blossoms, the park is also known for having many different varieties of cherry blossoms planted, including weeping cherry blossoms, giant cherry blossoms, turmeric cherry blossoms, and kanzan cherry blossoms, which decorate the park at different blooming times. The Cherry Blossom Festival is held from mid-April to early May every year. During this period, lanterns will be lit at night, allowing you to enjoy the cherry blossoms at night.
