Morioka City/Spring has arrived as the flowers of the “northernmost natural monument” bloom.

A collaboration between one of the most beautiful stone walls and cherry blossoms in the country

Next to the charming solitary cherry blossoms, we will introduce famous cherry blossom viewing spots that fill the entire field of view.

The ruins of Morioka Castle in the city center are currently being maintained as "Iwate Park", and 250 Yoshino cherry trees are planted there. Morioka Castle Ruins, also known as Kozukata Castle, was once the residence of the Nanbu clan of the Morioka domain, which had a capital of 200,000 koku. It was built on a hill at the confluence of the Kitakami River and the Nakatsu River, which was a stronghold, and because of the beautiful Momoyama-style stone walls that still remain today, it is considered one of the three famous castles in Tohoku, along with Aizu and Shirakawa.

During the cherry blossom season, many people gather to take photos of the beautiful scenery, often with smartphones in hand. Particularly popular is the angle that captures the ''vivid contrast between the stone wall and the cherry blossoms'' in one frame, but there are many other attractions with different tastes, such as ''the cherry blossoms seen from a hill near the main enclosure.'' Please look for your favorite angle in the park. During the Morioka Cherry Blossom Festival, which is held from early April to early May every year, the cherry blossoms are lit up with paper lanterns, creating a different scenery than usual.

Why not visit Morioka, which is dyed in cherry blossom color?
