It's nice to buy ingredients and enjoy them at home, but it's also fun to enjoy fresh seafood on the premises. ''Nokke-don'', where you choose your favorite ingredients at the store and enjoy it in a bowl, is a specialty of the Akita Citizen Market. After getting a special tray and a partner store map from a liquor store in the market, and purchasing rice from a delicatessen store, you can start making bowls. Blue lanterns are displayed at participating stores where you can buy ingredients for the rice bowls, so you can buy seafood there and put it on your rice. The trick is to ask the staff at the restaurant whether it can be made into sashimi or if it can be purchased in small quantities as you make it. In addition to seafood, you can also purchase tsukudani and pickles for rice bowls. Please enjoy the finished bowl at the "relaxation space" inside the market. Some ingredients may be sold out by lunchtime, so we recommend arriving early in the morning. Another great thing is that you can enjoy it at market price.
There are also restaurants on the premises, such as an authentic Neapolitan pizza specialty store and a ramen shop that is famous for Jumonji Chinese noodles, a specialty of Yokote City. Ichiban Sushi, which is directly managed by the market, is a popular restaurant that attracts many tourists. Every morning, seafood purchased from the market is served in a casual conveyor belt sushi style. There is a wide variety of toppings, from standard to seasonal items.
