Morioka City/First time held! “Morioka Illumination Bright” that lights up the city
2022/12/28

''Morioka Illumination Bright'' will be held at the main venue, the plaza in front of the Morioka History and Culture Museum, as well as the Morioka Station Shopping District, the Morioka Station East Exit Promotion Association (Kibushi Ryokuchi), the Zaimokucho Shopping Street, the Odori Shopping District, the Kawamachi Shopping Street, and Yahata Street.
Morioka Ekimae Shopping Street is a historical shopping street that developed with the opening of Morioka Station. In one corner is the Morioka Ekimae Kaiun Shrine, which was built to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the opening of Morioka Station and the 120th anniversary of the construction of the Morioka Kaiun Bridge.
4 minutes walk from Morioka Station. Kipushi Ryokuchi, located along the Kitakami River between Kaiun Bridge and Asahi Bridge, is a waterside park where public toilets, restaurants, etc. were built in September 2019.
The Zaimokumachi shopping street, which stretches for approximately 430 meters, has a history of developing as a shipping hub during the domain era, and is a shopping district that is steeped in history and culture, including the craft shop ''Koharasha'', which is associated with Kenji Miyazawa.
Sakamachi Shopping Street, located across the Nakatsugawa River from Morioka Castle Ruins Park, is a shopping street that has been around since the feudal era, and is characterized by its arcade.
About 10 minutes walk from Morioka Station. Odori Shopping Street, which is located straight after crossing the Kaiun Bridge, is the busiest shopping district in Morioka.
Morioka Hachimangu Shrine is the guardian deity of Morioka and is also famous for the Morioka Autumn Festival. Hachiman Street has a prosperous history as a temple town.
Preparations for illuminations are currently underway at these venues, and the illuminations are scheduled to start sequentially. Please check the official website and official SNS for the latest information before going out.
Elaborate illuminations are also being held at TV Iwate, Parc Avenue Kawatoku, Morioka Bus Center, Marios, JR Morioka Station, etc. near the venue. In particular, at JR Morioka Station, illuminations with the "SL Galaxy" motif have appeared to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the railway's opening, delighting the eyes of passersby. We also recommend enjoying a tour of the illuminations.
