Aomori City/Enjoy winter “Snow! Lights! Art! Aomori Winter Wonderland”

Illumination event where Japanese paper lights illuminate the bay area

When it comes to events in Aomori City, the summer ''Aomori Nebuta Festival'' is famous, but summer is not the only attraction. "Snow! Lights! Art! Aomori Winter Wonderland" will be held mainly in the Aomori Bay Area from December 9th (Friday) to February 12th (Sunday), 2023, and is a major event with a variety of events.

The Aomori Bay Area, which stretches along the harbor from JR Aomori Station, includes ''Nebuta House Wa Rasse'' where you can experience the Aomori Nebuta Festival, ''Memorial Ship Hakkodamaru'', a valuable facility where the Seikan ferry was moored and preserved in almost the same condition as when it was launched, and ''Aomori Prefecture Tourism and Products Center'', a tourist and product information base with an eye-catching triangular building. This area is full of tourist facilities such as ''Aspam,'' which manufactures and sells cider using apples from Aomori Prefecture, and ''A-FACTORY,'' which sells sweets and food.

The Aomori Light and Paper Pageant will be held from December 9th (Friday) to February 12th, 2023 (Sunday), and the Aomori Bay Area will be illuminated with snowman-shaped Japanese paper objects called ''Yukidaruma-ru'' handmade by children in the city using Nebuta production techniques. The contrast between the monochrome snowy landscape and the brightly colored lights of the objects is beautiful, and looking at the different "faces" of each object will warm your heart. Approximately 130 cute snowmen will also appear on the streets of Shinmachi Shopping District, which stretches east from Aomori Station. The sidewalk is covered, so it's easy to walk on snowy days. Please take a stroll.
