Fukushima City/Bandai Azuma Skyline: A new spectacular view appears every time you turn a continuous curve!

An impressive mountain route that fills the window 360 degrees with autumn leaves

A large panorama of vivid autumn leaves that fills the train window 360 degrees. Introducing spots from Fukushima City where you can experience autumn on a big scale.

The Bandai Azuma Skyline, which winds through the mountain range of Azuma from Takayu Onsen to Tsuchiyu Pass, is a mountain sightseeing road with a total length of approximately 29 km and a maximum altitude of 1,622 m. The scenery of the plateau that spreads out at the foot of Mt. Azuma is famous, and the scenery is so spectacular that it attracts many people from all over the country, especially during the fall foliage season from late September to mid-October. The gradation of autumn leaves that appears due to the height difference from near the entrance to the highest altitude changes as autumn deepens, and dynamically approaches the view. The scenery outside the train window changes each time you turn right or left around a series of hairpin curves, and the scenery that unfolds one after another is so vivid that it has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 roads.

Actually, eight scenic spots have been selected along the route, each named by the famous author Yasushi Inoue. That is "Azuma Hakkei". First, enter from the Takayu Onsen side and go to Shirakaba-no-mine, located 6.7 km, then go 1 km ahead to Tsubakuro Valley, where Fudosawa Bridge crosses. 2.2km further on is ''Tengu Garden'', followed by ''Jododaira'', ''Ssanryu no Tsuji'', and ''Komi Pass'' in 5km increments. Continuing on for 1.3km, you will reach ''Tempukyo'', and finally, after about 1km, you will reach ''Kunimidai''. The best time to see the autumn leaves varies depending on the elevation, and the best time to see them is around late September in the highlands around Jododaira. The best time to see the flowers is around mid-October, around Fudosawa and Tengu Garden. In particular, the beauty of Tsubakuro Valley, where Fudosawa is at its peak, is breathtaking. The surrounding maples and birch trees are beautifully colored, and you can enjoy the collaboration of autumn leaves and waterfalls from the top of Fudosawa Bridge.
